Workshop Life-Centered Design - Diseña Forum

  • Ibercaja Patio de la Infanta San Ignacio de Loyola, 16 50008 Zaragoza (map)

Empathising with nature

In this workshop, you will create a non-human persona from a natural habitat or species living in de city of Zaragoza.

With a small team, you will explore the following questions about the non-human persona.

  • What is the function in the world, location, (hi)story, and habitat?

  • What are essential needs for the non-human to thrive & survive?

  • What are the main threats to the well-being of the non-human?

  • What is the health status of the non-human? Back this up with scientific data.

  • Suppose the non-human would share her feelings with us. What would it say in a vulnerable story?

  • What is the negative impact on the non-human of our behaviour? And what can be potential positive impact areas in the future?

What is Life-Centered Design?

Life-Centred Design is a design philosophy and approach that goes beyond human needs. In recent years, more designers, design researchers, activists and professionals who practice any form of design( thinking) have started to question if the thing we love doing the most (DESIGNING) is good for the planet, for life on earth or for humanity. Among others in my field, I believe the way we use design today is damaging our world. Fortunately, our skills and mindsets can benefit all life on earth. From these insights, Life Centered Design was born.
